FSSC 22000

Food Safety Management System

An international standard recognized by the GFSI initiative, intended for food processors, manufacturers, and packers who seek to meet the demands of serious and consistent customers worldwide.

Why FSSC 22000?

An increasing number of food companies and retail chains require their suppliers to have a food safety system recognized by GFSI. While ISO 22000 is an international standard for food safety management systems, it is not, by itself, recognized by the GFSI initiative.

FSSC 22000 makes the difference: it combines the requirements of ISO 22000, specific prerequisite programs (PRPs), and additional FSSC requirements, enabling organizations to develop and improve their food safety management system in a flexible yet fully compliant way.

For companies that already hold an ISO 22000 certificate, the transition to FSSC 22000 does not require additional time—certification bodies can conduct the transition audit together with the regular ISO audit, after which the certificate is upgraded to an FSSC 22000 certificate. This provides an internationally recognized confirmation that opens the doors to global markets and meets the highest customer standards.
