BRCGS
Brand Reputation through Compliance Global Standards
BRCGS is an international standard recognized by the GFSI initiative, developed to provide retail chains—from small independent stores to large international trading systems—with a reliable tool for evaluating and approving their food product suppliers.
If you market your products in the UK or international markets, compliance with the BRCGS Food Safety standard becomes not only an advantage but also a requirement for placement on the shelves of major retail chains.

Why BRCGS?
First published in 1996, the BRCGS Food Safety standard was developed within the British Retail Consortium with the aim of helping the food industry comply with UK and European legislation. Over the years, the standard has evolved into a globally recognized system of best practices in food safety, quality, and accountability, becoming the first standard to be recognized by the GFSI initiative.
Today, BRCGS is applied in more than 16,000 organizations across over 130 countries and covers key areas such as:
- HACCP system and risk analysis,
- traceability throughout the entire production chain,
- prevention of food fraud,
- resource management and management responsibility.
In addition to the main edition focused on food safety, additional standards have been developed:
- BRCGS Packaging Materials – for packaging and materials in contact with food,
- BRCGS Storage and Distribution – for product storage and distribution,
- BRCGS Agents and Brokers – for intermediaries in the trade of food products.
