IFS
International Featured Standards
(IFS) represents a group of international standards recognized by the GFSI initiative, ensuring a high level of safety and quality in the food and consumer goods supply chain. These standards were developed in cooperation with leading retail chains and suppliers, and are intended for companies that wish to align their operations with clear, realistic, and transparent market requirements.
If you market your products through major retail chains worldwide, IFS Food is the standard that opens doors for you.

Why IFS?
IFS Food v8 is the most important standard within the IFS group and applies to companies that process or package food products. Its focus is on risk analysis, regulatory compliance, product safety, and consumer trust, fully relying on the principles of the HACCP system, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and Good Hygiene Practices (GHP).
IFS standards do not prescribe exact methods or equipment; instead, they define clear requirements and guidelines while leaving flexibility in their implementation. During the certification audit, it is verified whether the established procedures and practices are effective, reliable, and aligned with the expectations of retail chains and end consumers.
In addition to IFS Food, important standards within the IFS group include:
- IFS Global Markets Food – intended for smaller organizations as the first step towards the IFS Food standard.
- IFS Logistics – for companies involved in the storage and distribution of food.
- IFS HPC – for household and personal care products.
- IFS Broker – for companies that act as intermediaries in the trade of food and products, with a focus on responsibility for product safety and legality.
